Product: Human Heart Nature Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner

I've read about Human Heart Nature before, but thinking that it's just another product-oriented brochure-advertised MLM company (such as Avon, Natasha, etc. ), I wasn't exactly thrilled to sample their product offers. I've nothing against those type of companies, but sometimes their products turn out to be more expensive and not as effective as store-bought counterparts.

But one can't always ignore good reviews. Human Heart Nature products continued to pop up in forums whenever the topic skewed to effective and affordable natural beauty products and I thought to pay attention.

One, if not my biggest frustration is my hair. I remember mentioning this rant in my Opal Conditioner review. But rather than seeking another chemical-laden hair product, I thought that my hair would benefit more from products that are natural and have less chemicals. This hunch was confirmed when I started using Ilog Maria Honey & Propolis Shampoo. Hairfall was lessen, scalp itchiness was gone and my hair simply felt healthier.

My only complain was my hair remained coarse and unmanageable. It didn't lose it's buhaghag texture at all. And I blamed it on not being able to find a natural hair conditioner, which means that I wasn't using conditioner on my hair everyday. I felt that using a non-natural conditioner would just defeat the purpose of using a natural shampoo, so I only use a hair conditioner when I have to go out of the house, which was not very often. If only there was another natural hair conditioning product that can go tag-team with the Honey & Propolis Shampoo. Unfortunately, Ilog Maria doesn't carry such item.

Human Heart Nature does though, which made me decide to try their hair product line up. The more popular ones are Human Heart Nature Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. And from the name itself, it sounds exactly what I need.

Human Heart Nature products can be ordered not only from their website and authorized resellers, but can also be bought directly from Shopwise and Rustan's branches nationwide. This was favorable to me because there are two Shopwise branches near our place. The shampoo retails for P139.75 and the conditioner is P144.00. Both are in 200 ml bottles.

But are they really natural? The shampoo claims to be 96.4% natural, while both shampoo and conditioner are labeled "100% No Harmful Chemicals".

Look at their ingredients and I'll leave it up to you to decide.

One thing I like about these products is they have expiration dates, which when you think about it, strengthens their claim about being natural. Surely, it makes perfect sense for a natural product to expire after a certain period of time than to have an indefinite shelf-life.

As far as being a moisturizing hair product is concerned, I think Human Heart Nature Shampoo and Conditioner do a good enough job. I mean, you can't expect that they will drastically make your hair commercial-worthy, especially if you have a hair like mine - the buhaghag type. But I did note subtle improvements in the texture, body and overall health of my hair after the first pair of bottles.

Also, because they are natural, I feel a lot less guilty when I lather the products on my hair and leave it on for more than 10 minutes (as in the case of the conditioner), and a lot less worried that I will have bacne when some of the products spill on my back (because they do not have harsh ingredients). And similar to the effect of Ilog Maria Honey Shampoo, hair fall and scalp itchiness are evidently lessened with continued use of Human Heart Nature Shampoo and Conditioner.

But my only complain (actually my husband's) is their scent. They're not offensive, or anything to that effect. In fact, I thought the citrus scent (notes of orange) was refreshing, but my husband said that my hair doesn't smell as good as before, when I was still using non-natural shampoo and conditioner. I guess you could also attribute that to being natural.

Overall, Human Heart Nature Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner are your best bet if you want natural hair products. They are affordable, mild enough for everyday use and best of all, Human Heart Nature is a company with a cause. They are Pro-Philippines, Pro-Poor and Pro-Environment (Read more about their company's Philosophy). Every Human Heart Nature product that you buy will help them to achieve their noble goals.

UPDATE (02/26/2012): I'm on my 2nd bottle/tube of Human Heart Nature Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. And I'm shedding hair again. Not sure if it is as bad as before, but I'm seeing fallen hair strands everywhere -- on my shoulders, on my clothes, on the bed, the pillow, a handful on the bathroom floor whenever I take a bath. Although now, I think there's more hair breakage than actual hair fall.

When I bought my 2nd tube of conditioner, I thought it smelled weird -- sour rather than citrusy. And when I applied it on my hair, it felt different, like it's no longer coating my hair, although the consistency is still the same thick cream.

And my hair felt dry and brittle again, I could hear it crackling against the comb. I'm not sure if it's the shampoo or the conditioner or that I've been stressed out lately, sleeping late at night more frequently. But I will probably switch hair products again.

UPDATE (03/14/2012) I have thyroiditis and one of the symptoms is dry, brittle and falling hair. So that's most likely the culprit, and not these hair products.

    1. Ako rin nung una nagka dandruff, pero ang ginawa ko was to use more shampoo, or to shampoo twice using HHN. Hindi lang pala siya nalinis nang mabuti!
